9/11 Memorial services and ICLR participation
The ICLR community was very well represented at the different interfaith programs across Little Rock on the 10th anniversary of 9/11. ICLR wants to thank all of the participants for helping to make Muslim participation in the 9/11 Memorials a success. The sisters made a great impression attending the events in their Muslim attire.
The first event was held at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Little Rock. The program started at 9 am. Brother Nader Abou-Diab and sister Nisreen Moursi talked about how 9/11 affected them. Sister Nisreen Moursi D/o Dr. Muhammad Moursi did an excellent job representing our youth. We also had a great representation from our community in attending the dialogue and interacting with the group. The ICLR members also attended the church service.
The second event was held from 2:30 to 3:30 pm at the Clinton Library. Our Community showed great presence in the Clinton Library memorial and we had a lot of recognition for our presence. Br. AbuNuh represented ICLR and participated with the other interfaith leaders of the community in reading the prayer. Suzanne Abou-Diab d/o Nader Abou-Diab, did a good job as well reciting from the Quran. It helped us make better relationships with people from other faiths by reaching out and being recognized as a solid part of this community.
The third event was held at the Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, Little Rock from 6:00 to 6:30 pm.
Brother Nader Abou-Diab made an inter faith prayer at the “Peace Pole” garden of this church. Below, in his own words, he states his experience:
“I had a great experience at the Pulaski Heights Methodist Church. It was the peace pole prayer that was wonderful. I hope in the near future we can duplicate their Peace Pole Garden on our property. It is a great message to our community, youth and friends. I am also joining their peace committee and hoping to do more community events with them.”
