BEACON OF PEACE AND HOPE
The dedication ceremony of the Peace Garden and the Beacon of Peace and Hope took place on Saturday November 5th in North Little Rock. Several people from different faith and ethnic backgrounds joined in the dedication ceremony and represented their communities. The Muslim community was represented by Shahnur Fatima Said d/o Qayyim Said who spoke about “Salaam: the Greeting of Peace in Islam”. The Beacon and the Peace Garden are a gift to the community from Arkansas WAND (Women’s Action for New Directions) in hopes that this will be a place where children and families can come together to celebrate peace as an ideal to work towards in this war-torn world.
